How to Donate Your Old Furniture
Are you looking for a free furniture pickup? If you are like many people, you have a few extra types of furniture lying around the home. To de-clutter and to make more room for yourself, consider donating that furniture. If it is in good condition and clean, or someone can repair it, it may be well worth donating to a local charity or organization in need. In doing so, you could be helping numerous people and giving yourself a tax deduction for the end of the year.
Numerous nonprofit organizations accept furniture. In some cases, these organizations will provide you with free furniture pickup. You simply need to locate a local charity that does this type of pickup service. Then, call them and request a pickup. Explain that you have furniture to donate that is valuable but you do not have a way to get it to their location. In many cases, you will need to bring the furniture outside, or in the garage so that the volunteers can pick it up. This process usually does not involve any type of fee. Not all organizations will pickup furniture, though. Some do not accept furniture and others may request that you bring the furniture to their local location.
The fact is, you just should not toss it out. Many local charities will benefit from the furniture by turning around and selling it to the general public then using the funds generated by the sale to help fund their nonprofit programs. Some of these charities help veterans, children or those in need. Choose the organization that you respect. You will need to ensure the furniture is in decent or better condition or the location is unlikely to accept it. Instead of paying to trash that furniture, donate it instead and help to better someone's life.
